Abbot is Co-Founder and CEO of SolPacific, LLC. As CEO, Abbot oversees all investment opportunities under the SolPacific umbrella including serving as Manager for SolPacific Income Fund and SolPacific Deferred Income Fund, which combined have approximately $170MM under management. SolPacific works primarily with developers in the affordable-housing market in an effort to bridge the expanding housing crisis faced in the United States.
On the forefront of technology, Abbot, along with The Pacific Companies, a leader in affordable housing development, created AVM Holdings, LLC, which raised $50MM in equity to develop and build a groundbreaking automated modular housing factory in Nampa, Idaho.
Most recently, in 2020, Abbot created Mercury Hospitality, a hotel and multifamily acquisition company. While SolPacific focuses on affordable-housing opportunities, the hotel and multifamily acquisition market is where Abbot began his investment career, co-founding Mercury Investment in 1995. While with Mercury Investment, a national real estate investment firm, Abbot focused primarily in multifamily and hotel properties. Mercury Investment and its controlled affiliates have made more than $600 MM in real estate acquisitions.
Prior to Mercury Investment, Abbot served as Co-Founder of the Whitecliff Group, a real estate opportunity fund focused on apartment and hotel properties. In all, Abbot’s experience spans three decades and over $1.5B in assets.
In addition to a long career in private equity investment and acquisition, Abbot was an attorney in private practice from 1985 until 1995, becoming the youngest Vice President, Shareholder and Director of the law firm of Fryberger, Buchanan, Smith & Fredrick, P.A. He attended the University of Minnesota for both his undergraduate degree and his law degree, graduating with honors from law school in 1985.
Greg co-founded SolPacific, LLC in 2015 and joined full-time in April 2020.
As CFO of Miner’s Incorporated, a regional supermarket chain doing business as Super One, from 1996 until 2020, Greg produced over $300 million of annual sales by implementing strategic growth through the acquisition of business and real estate assets. He was the key executive in building the company to 42 retail locations and over 2,700 employees.
Before joining Miner’s, Greg practiced as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with McGladrey & Pullen, LLP. He is a graduate of the University of Minnesota, Duluth, holding with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and currently serves on the board of directors for National Bank of Commerce.
Jason joined SolPacific in June of 2018 but has provided tax advisory services to the company since inception through his previous role as senior manager of tax services at RSM US, LLP.
In his nearly 15-year career at RSM, Jason served some of the firm’s largest clients and quickly became their trusted tax advisor. Jason takes a client-centric approach to tax advisement and has assisted multiple businesses with complex compliance issues, acquisitions, dispositions, transactional structuring, and exit strategies. He also served as RSM’s tax location leader in Duluth, MN, managing a tax practice of nearly 30 employees.
Jason is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). He holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Minnesota, Duluth and a master’s degree in business taxation from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, where he graduated with honors.
Laura joined SolPacific in September 2018 and oversees the day-to-day accounting and finance functions of the business.
Before joining SolPacific, she was a manager of tax services at RSM US LLP for 10+ years. She assisted businesses and their owners through all stages of their personal and business lifecycle. While in that role, she worked directly with the key principals of SolPacific and therefore brings great familiarity and synergy to the team.
Laura is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and graduated from the University of Minnesota, Duluth, with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a bachelor of business administration with a major in finance.
Deane joined Mercury Hospitality, a subsidiary of SolPacific, LLC, in July 2020; however, his association with the firm dates back to the early 1990s when he worked as an associate for The Whitecliff Group.
Since that time, Deane has spent 23 years with Carlson Companies and its subsidiary Radisson Hospitality in various finance and investment roles, including SVP of Strategic Investments and VP of Strategy and Corporate Development. In those roles, Deane led the disposition of $1.3B of non-strategic businesses and asset managed its owned hotel portfolio, which included development, asset renovation and repositioning, and $300 MM+ of sale transactions.
He is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin with a Bachelor of Science in Hospitality and Tourism.
Meagan joined SolPacific in March 2020, bringing over 12 years of paralegal experience to the team.
While in the legal field, Meagan worked with some of the largest employers in the country to successfully resolve litigated claims.
Meagan thrives at working with clients and going above and beyond to provide exceptional service. She is a pivotal part of investor relations in her role with SolPacific and looks forward to assisting investors in any way possible.
Meagan graduated from the University of Minnesota, Duluth, with a bachelor’s degree in pre-law/political science.
